Lab-Grown Diamond Prices in the UK
There is no single correct price for a lab-grown diamond ring. A headline carat weight can hide major differences in cut, dimensions, colour, clarity, shape, setting and metal. Comparing the complete specification is the only useful way to compare prices.
Carat is only one price driver
Carat measures weight. Two stones with the same carat can have different dimensions, cut quality and appearance. As carat rises, price usually rises, but the relationship is not perfectly linear because market supply differs by size and specification.
Shape affects price and face-up size
Round brilliants commonly price differently from fancy shapes because of cutting yield, demand and supply. Oval, emerald, radiant, pear and cushion stones can also distribute their weight differently, so compare visible dimensions as well as carat.
Do not overpay for invisible grades
Higher colour and clarity grades are not automatically better value. Once a stone looks suitably white and eye-clean in its intended setting, paying for additional laboratory grade may have little visible benefit. Cut and proportions often deserve more attention.
Remember the finished-ring cost
The final ring price includes the setting, precious metal, side stones where applicable, manufacturing, quality control, hallmarking where required, certification where specified, packaging and delivery. Compare like with like rather than comparing a loose-stone price with a finished ring.
